Project Overview
To design a logo and emblem that: - Embodies motion, cinematic pace, and boldness - Feels rugged, versatile, and culturally resonant in Bali’s sticker-forward visual culture - Is distinctive and instantly memorable, with scalable application across gear, apparel, and screen
The Overcrank Media team reached out after a previous agency failed to capture the essence of the brand. James D. Bowen, the founder, had a clear vision rooted in movement, adventure, and feeling but needed a designer who could translate that into a visual identity.
A hands-on, iterative design process rooted in collaboration, guided by feeling, and refined through instinct. The final logo and emblem reflect a brand that moves with purpose, stands with strength, and resonates across cultures and mediums.
Approach
Image Label
We began with conversation not about fonts or shapes, but about feeling. James had a clear sense of what the logo needed to evoke: motion, strength, subtlety, and a visual rhythm that mirrored the pacing of film. Every design decision was guided by this energy. From early sketches to structural refinements, the process was deeply intuitive and deliberately hands-on.
A logo built from instinct and precision balancing bold custom type with a streamlined emblem. Designed to feel rugged yet refined, cinematic yet grounded, and ready to live across everything from gear and helmets to on-screen title cards.
Process
The process began with immersion understanding the feeling, the movement, and the pulse behind the brand. Typography was built from the ground up: every curve, angle, and edge was intentional, shaped to hold both weight and flow. As we moved into emblem development, we explored multiple directions—each strong, but none fully aligned. So we simplified, stepped back, and listened more deeply to what wanted to emerge. From that space, the final icon revealed itself.

This wasn’t about decoration it was about direction. Every element reflects Overcrank’s essence: motion, stillness, and cinematic precision. Like overcranking in film, the identity slows things down to reveal the energy beneath.
Final Design
The result is a bold, refined identity that captures Overcrank’s spirit motion, strength, and cinematic presence. The custom typeface delivers clarity and distinction, while the emblem stands as a timeless, standalone mark—ready to live on gear, screens, and in the wild.
The Overcrank logo captures movement, energy, and distinction a brand that feels at home in Bali and on the global stage. The custom typeface and emblem work as a system, bold, clear, and emotionally resonant.

This project was a journey in listening beyond visuals, into vision and feeling. The result is a mark that doesn’t just represent the brand… it moves like it. A cinematic identity, grounded in truth, ready for the world. — Bups Daya
Testimonial
“It jumped off the screen and connected with me instantly—a real eureka moment.” I approached Bups to design the logo for my new company, Overcrank Media, after a few failed attempts with another agency. I had a clear vision, but nothing so far had that special something that really jumped out at me. Despite working remotely over different time zones the process with Bups was seamless. He asked the right questions, did his research, and presented strong options. Then suddenly—it was just there. One design jumped off the screen and connected with me instantly. I checked how it looked at smaller sizes, and it still held up perfectly. From there, it was smooth and professional all the way. As both a creative and a client, I can say Bups brings talent, technical skill, and real professionalism to the table. That logo was a eureka moment—and few artists can give you that.
